Psychotherapy in Perth with Andrea Sowden – All Welcome

Talking about our problems or issues through the process of psychotherapy increases self-awareness, identifies barriers and/or destructive patterns and promotes emotional growth. This in turn benefits our work, play and relationships – and increases an overall sense of well-being. Psychotherapy assists us to understand ourselves and helps us to make changes for a better future. The goal of psychotherapy is to rediscover your own voice, your own priorities, to find the courage to act on them – and to be our best selves.

Psychotherapy is a means of self-reflection and discovery, encouraging a development of self-acceptance and a feeling of purpose and aliveness. By increasing our understanding of, and gaining insight into the things that cause us pain, we can come to acceptance – and in the process, change patterns.

In the changing of these patterns and our search for meaning, we are able to develop the self further, coming to a balanced place of authenticity and self-awareness.

Psychotherapy is usually involves doing the deeper work that takes a longer time than counselling.

For meaningful, long-term change to occur, it is important to not only focus on the symptoms but to explore the origins of a problem. The unconscious and our core beliefs influence our attitudes and contribute to problems or issues. Working with a psychotherapist helps to create a more fulfilling and satisfying life, allowing us to incorporate our authentic selves with our friends, family, work colleagues and community.

Talking does help – particularly in a friendly, non-judgemental and professional environment.
All issues, all problems, and all feelings are welcome in my therapy room.

Psychotherapy sessions are confidential. It is important that you know and trust this – so that you can talk about things that you might not feel comfortable talking about anywhere else or with anyone else.

“Pain in this life is not avoidable, but the pain we create avoiding pain is avoidable.” ― R.D. Laing
